It's a stretch to ask the left to rally behind a bill that hands a lot more power to the industry that has savaged the American health care system in the first place.

Personally, I think the ACA is a decent step in the right direction for the most part, with some phenomenally terrible provisions.  However, I have no trouble at all understading why many others despise it on policy grounds.

It all comes down to what prognosis you give it.  If you think it will not affect costs, while handing the insurance industry a lot of money and power, then opposition mkes sense.

If, like me, you think it'll result in some marginal improvements while doing nothing to address the main probelms our system has, then you support it as not hurting to terribly much.

If you think it'll create a large scale change for the better, then you support it.

However, we really all ought to aggree on one thing:  this law is way, way, way too complicated for any of us to be sure what its effects will have been in 2020.  That is to say, a lot of us are destined to be wrong in the predictions we base our support/opposition on.

have a little patience for thsoe who disagree.  They might turn out to be right.
