... both Stewart and Colbert are available the next morning on Hulu.  That's where I watch them daily.

Hulu is where I now watch the few TV shows that are anywhere remotely good, especially this summer.  Rookie Blue is the ONLY good show ABC has on this summer, and they pre-empted it two or three weeks in a row for some sports shit (they also own ESPN, so I don't know why they put sports shit on regular channels).  Then I found (via Hulu) two other shows I can watch this summer from some kind of cable networks.  I refuse to lower my IQ by watching "reality TV."

I refuse to get cable for the simple reason I don't have choice in which channels to receive (or not), and paying someone for the "privilege" of watching ads is asinine and backward.  They want me to watch ads, they hafta pay me!  Hulu has ads, too, but at least ad time is shorter than on conventional TV.  Ads + no channel choices = no cable.

Otherwise, my TV is off.  Luckily, I have tons of genealogy research to do and if I run into a brick wall, I can put that aside and read any of the books waiting for me to get to them.

        •  That's too bad (0+ / 0-)

I live out in the dingtoolies so TV reception is iffy sometimes, and watching shows online is so much better.

Both Hulu, and sometimes YouTube, have some unexpected gems (like a full-length movie I never would have expected to see on YouTube - sans commercials, no less).

I also like webcam live-streaming sites, like wildlife cams (eagles & peregrine falcons just fledged so they have/will end) to the yearly Eurovision contest, and just yesterday I discovered a web site with two live webcam feeds for a colony of puffins off the coast of Maine, one cam inside a nest with an infrared night light so it's visible at night (like the Decorah eagle cam that switched to infrared camera at night and colored video feed during the day).
