    The hottest temperature I recall from my childhood was 104 degrees, in 1977, following hard upon the infamous blackout of a few days earlier. During my New York years, I recall the summers of 1966, 1977 and 1980 as being particularly brutal.

    The hottest temperature I ever experienced was 115 during a business trip to Las Vegas. A good reason not ever to go there.

    Hereabouts, the hottest temperature I recall since moving to SF in 1986 was 103.
