I dated a sicilian girl once. What got my intestines in a twist was how she invited me to a dinner two weeks after we began . . .  er  . . . well, whatever.

The dinner was in Little Italy in Chicago, a region that was almost, but not quite completely destroyed with the building of a university. I thought "Hm, a nice dinner, a new restaurant, cool." I had no idea that her entire family was there. 20+ of them, there to meet me and celebrate our engagement. I had no clue I was the guest of honor.

I think my face changed color a few times. Her brother stood up, and said, "You know, I like you, but let me guess, you had no clue about this or about your upcoming marriage, did you?"

I nodded to him. He shook his head, and said, "Damn, not again. Not to worry, I will fix it."

After the main course was served, he managed to get me out of there, along with his girlfriend and his sister.

I learned one thing. Be careful of who you sleep with.

What we call god is merely a living creature with superior technology & understanding. If their fragile egos demand prayer, they lose that superiority.

all sorts of family events and made clear that we were friends, nothing more (which was true).
I remember when he took me to a 50th wedding anniversary celebration and there were 500 people there. I said "gee, your great aunt & uncle have a lot of friends."
"Nope," he said, "they're all relatives!"
(and the food was so damn great!).

But I'm glad you got out of your "engagement" party with your health intact.
