My daughter was born with a soft-palette cleft that was repaired. Permanently. Cured in other words.  But the insurance co's would not let it go.   The doctors even wrote to them to tell them THE CONDITION NO LONGER EXITS!  But they wouldn't let it go.

My two nephews, one severely autistic (non-verbal, can never live alone) and the other born with a rare form of cerebal-palsy which can and is being cured would've have both been labeled with pre-existing.  The bills for both of them will be high, but for the second, astronomical as he will require repeat procedures as he grows and his body changes.  The insurance co's fought my brother to have the procedure done locally by a practice that could do it the surgery, but never had done it before instead of the leading, most successful team that was pioneering this work (it involves cutting nerves in the spinal cord- yeah, let the newbie do it, sheesh!!) because it would have been slightly less expensive.   My brother, thankfully, kicked their asses and won.

So yes! We too are having a healtcaregasm!!

    Thanks for writing this!

Would we be so happy to have a military that dwarfs all others combined if it was a line item deduction on our paychecks next to FICA."
