If you make too much to go on Medicaid, then you will select a plan from the new exchange. If your state refuses to set up exchange, then HHS will do it for your state.

Here is a calculator where you can see how much of a subsidy you will be eligible to receive. The law also will feature a pool for small businesses and uninsured to purchase policies as well.

In either case your cost will be about 8% of your income- subsidy. There is a max cost that is income-based and that is good for those of us who aren't well-off.

No one is forced to pay without receiving coverage. It is your choice if you want to pay the penalty and not use that money  instead for a policy.

Lastly, why would you go without food 4 times a month? The collection of the penalty is quite difficult. They basically can only take it out of your tax refund. I'm sorry you've received some incorrect information somewhere a long the line.

    •  Calculator is useless. (0+ / 0-)

It only shows single or family of 4. Does not allow for me and my wife. When I plug in my figures (not including my wife), it shows an annual cost of $2,600. In the meantime, I have to somehow come up with $10,000 to purchase an individual policy and then wait for a partial tax credit the following year when I file my taxes.

In essence, you don't seem to know what you are talking about.

Congress shall make no law abridging the right of the people peaceably to assemble.
