  •  Safety and convenience come at a price. (6+ / 0-)

We need to invest in the society we want so it stays functional and useful to us all. That means people need to be hired to do it.

A first world nation comes at a price.

are we going to be the United States, or Haiti, where they don't even have building codes/regulations related to seismic design-- which is mostly why their nation was crushed by an earthquake not long ago.

capable of doing in order to maximize safety and value. These are investments in the community and the future. Do it right. If you don't, you may end up doing it again.

much of anything- that's the problem.

the recent highway legislation was months late, and is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of what needs to be done.

been in decades. We should figure out how much we would save by locking in the negative interest rates and doing stuff now vs kicking it down the road. ::sigh::

trigger to get things moving. I hope it doesn't take a disaster to do it.

for necessary projects now when interest rates are so low saves us an incredible amount of interest on infrastructure that has to be maintained or replaced. Waiting only costs us more in the long run, it's stupid to knowingly put ourselves in the position of having to spend more later for things that would have multiple benefits now.

          A little better, maybe . ;-)
