    This needs to be auto-scoured. He always had Liebermann and for any given vote he was opposed by either Nelson, Lincoln or Landrieu.  He NEVER had 60 votes on any of those bills.

    Ben Nelson had so many millions in the health care industry he couldn't see straight, and his state was the epicenter of student loan usury. Landrieu was born to block energy bills. Lincoln just acted stupidly. And you do remember Liebermann, that guy standing behind John McCain for most of those two years? Do you really think he wanted Obama to win anything?

    Don't say it. It just wasn't true.

      jbou made the point that he should have kept those Dems in line. And I think it's a fair point, even though I agree with you. There are certain Dems who see an advantage to opposing a Dem president, and I think that would have been true, regardless of which Dem was president.

      I was just pointing out, that on paper, even counting the conservative Dems, Obama only had 60 Dems for a very short period.
