do more than stabilize a patient.  If a person shows up in a diabetic coma, the hospital is required to deal with the coma, but not the effects of the coma or to administer any further care or follow-up.  ER's are required to do nothing more than treat the immediate condition.  People with chronic conditions, e.g., diabetes, epilepsy, MS, Parkinson's and a host of others.

      And so....Medicare for ALL.

      On board?

The truth is sometimes very inconvenient.

When we took my daughter to the ER when she hurt her knee, after four hours we got "It's not fractured, take her to an orthopedist on Monday."

If it had been broken they would have treated it. It wasn't,so it could be deferred until we could see an appropriate non-emergency doctor.

Thankfully we DO have health insurance, and good insurance at that, so her torn meniscus was diagnosed by MRI and a specialist's exam and treated by several months of followup physical therapy. I can't imagine if we weren't covered.
