    What Mitt was/is able to do is trudge through the tax law thicket, picking the provisions that favor him. As he argues: I'd be a fool not to use the law's protections.

    While these processes he uses are opaque - and very deliberately so! - he and his accountant will have a fine and litigatable explanation for what they've signed.

    Mitt's greatest sin here is running for president and not disclosing his great wealth the way others have done for several campaigns. The press should hound him relentlessly to show previous years returns.

      In an article that I read in the Boston Globe it estimated that as many as 50 tax lawyers and CPAs touch the Romney return before it is filed. My guess is that Romney has a basic understanding of the tax strategy that his team is pursuing, but knows none of the details.
