That's the status quo Republicans are fighting tooth and nail to return to: needless, premature, painful death for people who aren't lucky enough to have won in the health insurance lottery.
    And a lottery it is.

I am continually perplexed at arguments citing (1) the fact that we don't have enough doctors to take on an additional 30,000 - 40,000 patients (so, if you didn't win the health care lottery, go fuck yourself) or (2) providing health care for those 30-40K formerly uninsured will just cost too much, nope, we just can't afford that! (so, if you didn't win the health care lottery, see #1 above.)

Yes, we will have to be creative to solve those problems. Those of us who won the health care lottery years ago,  and have benefited ever since, may have to let a little bit of our advantage slip from our grasp for the better good. I hope I will be able to do that with a generous spirit.

That picture shows a moment that could NOT have happened to Mitt RMoney. For one moment, I forgive Obama all the disappointments, all the crappy "bipartisanship" that has got Democrats nothing better than a political wedgie.

Because, at his core, he is a deeply empathetic human being. And, today, he made a total stranger whole.
