  •  One of those 'old guys' above is an actual JAG. (3+ / 0-)

That's what worries me. How many of these guys are still in service? I have always felt our generation was a different one but I am feeling more than ever lately. Even people just 10 years older than my husband and I often don't have a clue.

Smudging the clean page :)  We sort of had a reverse kind of situation a few years ago.  There was a female officer in my husband's unit, and she was a super soldier.  She was wounded in Iraq by a mortar too.  Being female though and wounded, many women get a huge endorphin rush, she got her endorphin rush and she was pulling the guys that were wounded off the road while they were still disoriented.  They allowed her to take Airborne school after she left here too.  Then she thought she would get married, and that was when things got ugly around here.

She was the sister in the unit that all these guys wished they had I guess.  The quiet uproar within the "brother" "hood" about how the guy who was marrying her was too much of a loser for her was awful.  I think they may have even plotted in private to try to get rid of him somehow. I couldn't believe it.  I had to remind them she gets to marry who she wants too, and maybe she shouldn't be married to a super soldier.  Maybe one super soldier per family is more than enough.  She just had a baby 3 months ago.  I spoke to her recently but forgot to ask her which one hurt more, mortar shrapnel or having a baby :)
