    All along the West Coast you have the same basic rainfall pattern: rainfall peaks in late winter/early spring and bottoms in July/August.  The difference between Seattle and SoCal is just a matter of inches, but in both cases rain is scarcest when you'd expect plants to be growing.

    East of the Plains, it's a different matter.  There rainfall peaks during the summer growing season and is much much more constant throughout the year.
