      glorify monarchy. But, alas, this diary is one big monarchical glorification! Once again, you are right on the money with your insightful and intelligent observations.

        ... so the diary begins.

        1964 was the last national election run by King Idris, of course a sham, and the diarist is celebrating a glorious re-run of it forty years later. A return to those glorious days of yore, before that Gaddafi came in and ruined everything. The pre-Gaddafi monarchy is glorified by the rebel groups. They even revived the monarchist flag. It's about the kind of "democracy" they want, if that.

        Try learning something.

        But I guess in your mind, when they aren't attacking black people and torturing or murdering people that don't agree with them, Libya's new tyrants are really Jeffersonian democrats.
