      is dependent on the context?

      In discussion or writing one would use plutocracy when point is primarily wealth, and oligarchy when the argument is power is held by a small number of people.

      Thanks for clarification Ojibwa, I was a bit fuzzy also.

      Nuance is lost upon those who choose not to look.

      going to answer!;~}

      I've been saying it's a plutocracy, not an oligarchy because imho, plutocracy acknowledges more keenly the aspect of wealth. Right? An oligarchy could conceivably be run by a selected few including some who were poor, right?

      To me, it would be better if there was more agreement on use of one term: plutocracy or oligarchy.

      Many of us do not think it is a democracy anymore. Elected officials are bought by corporations and lobbyists provide the link and write the legislation. I do not vote for a rep. to do that, but that is what they have decided to do, most of them, so they can be re-elected and get on the gravy train to greater wealth and power.

      Thank you!
