but tonight seems like a good time to drop by and just be.

A little bummed about The Nephew and all the apparent trouble that has been here for him, that this is not a safe place to be vulnerable, that there are people who want to make life difficult. Just bummed.

On the other hand, my friend Karen's husband seems to be recovering well from his lung transplant and can do simple things like walk down the block and back. A real miracle.

And the other miracle that is shaping my life right now is the fact that my 37 year old daughter is pregnant with twins.  She does not have a partner and is having a hard time physically.  I live with her so I feel ... well, not like the father ... but certainly like more than just the grandmother down the street. Trying to find the right place for me in this somewhat unorthodox situation is trial and error.  Going between being super excited for my daughter and then going into shock wondering how everything will turn out.

Also aware and proud that she will be a good mom without having to think everything through like I had to do.  We have talked about parenting and she is so much more ready to be a parent.  One thing she said was that she had learned watching me stuggle not to pass my old tapes.  It is comforting to know that I am not passing on the abuse pattern.

So, thank you.  The patio picture sure looked tempting but it is too hot to sit outside here.
