    I wonder what the context of this and other related revelations is, besides "American Security State Run Amuck"? I wish I thought more of this was driven by solid national security concerns, but I sooo doubt that. I can't help suspecting that the driver would be new funds for new vendors and more funds for incumbent vendors (e.g., carriers). It's hard for me to believe this would even be happening without that. Potentially there could have been resistance to this from corporations and industry. One would expect their bottom line to be the main issue for them about that.
