that's how the date was chosen for the new pearl harbor.

You can talk or e-mail about how "Uncle joe had a heart attack so I called 9-11" and say 9-11 as many times as you want. It won't be red-flagged because everyone says it and they say it in terms of an emergency. Makes a great propaganda date: National Emergency Day.
'Course to write the date that way is sort of an Americanism, so that's all probably not what happened.
Or maybe we're just talking about Uncle Joe's new car.

Meanwhile, I personally am old enough to remember what it feels like to dial a rotary phone number with a bunch of 8s and 9s in it.  It takes forever, and goes n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-9-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n just to dial 9 one time. If your finger slips out you have to hang up and start again...
How is "9" an Emergency number for someone weak and fainting in the early 1970s?
I was a kid who like to play with the phone and stuff like that never made any sense to me.
