  •  I can understand that concern. (5+ / 0-)

I grew up in southern Florida, and I know what the vast influx did to the environment, particularly the fragile aquifers.  At the same time, I can't blame people for wanting to relocate when I have the same pipe-dream myself!

AS, thank you for this.  It is most welcome.  The acceleration of sea level rise along the MidAtlantic troubles me greatly.  I find myself seriously considering putting the house on the market and relocating to higher ground.  When we bought four years ago, the science had sea level rise not threatening this town until the end of the century, long after our expected lifespans.  But with acceleration and subsidence, I'm beginning to think we're going to lose that particular gamble.

Among places we've considered are northern/mountain New England and the Pacific Northwest.  I know you don't want to hear that, Nulwee.  But truthfully, last week's heatwave had me holed up on the second floor of my house, where we have AC.  I would go downstairs and have a hard time breathing.  There may well come a time in the not-so-distant future when we simply must relocate or risk me having a severe respiratory attack.  It's that or a boat big enough to live on permanently.  A lot of us all over the South and MidAtlantic are going to have to make that move, or we may very well die one brutal summer.
