    And we finally dropped him 'cuz no local sponsors would pay to advertise on his show.  Some of 'em liked him, but they were afraid of losing customers.  That happens all of the country - Rush has national sponsors, and not that many locals.  We had to run PSAs to fill in all that blank space.

    And, yep, he does hire people to call in and say what he wants 'em to say.  That's a common thing on radio shows... it even happened on our station with a local call-in show they tried to run for a while.  Most of the "local callers" were the station manager and her brother, calling in and faking their voices and using assumed names to try to make it sound like people were interested in the show.  It was kinda pitiful...
