and they don't have actual medical personnel staffing them, how's that going to look for people fighting for actual abortion rights when the truth comes out?

So let me get this straight: you think the clients of this clinic should be fine getting abortions from persons who are not doctors, and who were trained by someone who's not a doctor.
And the first time there's a complication....? Some innocent woman's life or health is needlessly put at risk, and the wing nuts get to parade through the streets trumpeting about unlicensed baby butchers. That should do a whole lot of good for our side.

I will concur with your other interlocutor. You first.

And who do you think did abortions, like my Mother had, when it was illegal?

We women were not waiting for abortion to be legal. NOW sent nurses and EMTs to house meetings to teach us how to do vacumn aspiration abortions on each other and how to make the equipment to do it cheaply and safely.

Don't put words in my mouth, Sorca. Baciare mi en culo.

          •  Excuse me? (0+ / 0-)

I am probably your mother's age. I was both sexually and politically active in the bad old pre-Roe days, and worked for abortion rights then and now. My SIL was the medical director of PP - Washington State at the time, and starred in the film they made in response to The Silent Scream. I know exactly what options were available to us.

They were not bad if you had some money or connections. There were reputable doctors who would take care of you quietly, for a handsome fee, or you could get on a plane and fly in to one of the states that had already legalized abortion, or made the restrictions loose enough that anyone could get one there.

If you didn't have money or connections, you had two choices: back-alley butchers, some of whom were probably trying their best but were unlicensed and self-taught but some of whom took the money of the poor, chopped them up inside and dumped the bad outcomes at the ER door, or DIY, meaning coathangers, "falling" downstairs, or something similar.

Now, a quote from the link you sent me:

They found a physician they called "Mike" who was willing to work with them. After creating a close relationship with Mike they found out that he actually wasn't really a physician, but the techniques he used were safe and effective.[1] The women of Jane then decided to cut out the middleman and perform the abortions themselves. Mike taught the women his technique, and from then on the women performed the abortions themselves.
Sounds to me like the untrained training the untrained. "We" women? That would have been me. You admit you weren't even born yet, my dear.  So, for your lovely attitude, have a bombolone.
