    I'd prefer the near bankrupt state spent this money on keeping its incredible legacy of parks open (a number of them have been closed to the public) and maintained.  They include some of the most valuable real estate in the world and are at great risk right now because the state is looking for money anywhere and everywhere.  Once gone, they are gone for good.

    Furthermore, more gas would be saved if BART, the San Diego Trolley and the various forms of public transit in the LA metro area were subsidized to make them more affordable and operated for longer hours to make them more practical.
