  •  They're both right to some extent. (0+ / 0-)

The elites are taught to believe that being elite and/or privileges is a bad thing, so they make up excuses for why they happen to be better off or why others happen to be worse off to quell the cognitive dissonance.

This can be seen in the skewed reasoning of many of them, that they are so all-powerful that they are responsible for all the good things that happen in this country to everyone, and yet they are not responsible for any of the bad things that happen. "Success has many parents but failure is an orphan."

We can't really alter the system without overturning it a little, but we can't fully overturn it without eventually resorting to bloodshed. Even if they gained wealth illegally or immorally, people will fight to keep it. Trying to reduce their lot by taking something away will start fights.

A better solution, in my opinion, is to raise everyone up in some fashion. This would include creating a real Elite Class that is based on Meritocratic principles whose membership would be predicated on fulfilling noble obligations. It would also include completely separating the role of Head of Government and Head of State. Creating a moral authority in a democratically elected long-term head of state would be able to speak to obligations without acting politically about it.
