    •  Yes. The first paragraph of the letter said: (15+ / 0-)

"This letter is to inform you that you will receive a rebate of a portion of your health insurance premiums. The rebate is required by the Affordable Care Act - the health reform law."

So they were totally upfront about that. Of course, no mention of Obama--that would probably be a bridge too far for them.

      •  That's good though. My sister gets Medicare (11+ / 0-)

and her Indiana doctor told her she could have free preventive services, but didn't say it was due to the ACA.  I clued her in about it.  She and her husband voted for President Obama and are supporters of his -- she's spoken out to friends to clear things up.

I like that they are acknowledging why the money is coming to them.

        Thanks.  And congratulations!!

had another tale to tell me.  She got a bill for blood work and swears she's never had to pay for it before and "well it's because of, you know, the new health care law."  I told her actually some preventative services are now supposed to be free; she interrupted me in mid sentence saying, "YES, I heard that, but I've ALWAYS gotten preventive services free, that happened long before this new health care law."

I dropped it there.  She's 85 and watches Fox News constantly, so there's no point in trying to argue.  I have no idea why she would be billed for something she never was billed for before.

      •  It would be weird if they mentioned Obama (0+ / 0-)

They're giving you the check because of the act, not Obama himself.  A lot of Representatives and Senators voted for it, and Obama signed it.  Even if Obama was the one pushing for it, it's still a bit more information than is required to tell you why you're receiving the rebate.

What did you expect, a one page history of the ACA?  They're a company, not a political organization.
