    When gas and oil does run out, we'll need to have an infrastructure in place to utilize alternative energy sources. Currently solar power is inefficient. They're working on making more efficient solar cells out of plastic, which is a ... petroleum product. Yep, we need oil to make plastic, we need plastic to make pretty much everything. Besides, how will you build a hydrostatic power plant without gas to fuel the construction equipment, oil to keep the turbines lubricated, plastics to make the buttons that the operators use to control the plant- all while keeping enough fossil-fuel power plants operating to generate power for the rest of the planet.

    If we don't get on top of this quickly, when that cliff event does occur, it's going to be like a rug pulled out from under our feet.
