    the media's job is to report facts.

    It's not. At all. Seriously and for real, it's not. Their job is to make money.

    That is our system.

      ...that there would be an informed electorate, accountability for those in power, and a floodlight in the darker corners of secrecy?

      I get that today's media culture is profit-centered. But even in non-profit public broadcasting, true journalism has become scarce. Media companies may now be focused on profit, but journalists used to adhere to a code. Journalism used to be a calling. Now, true journalists have been forced to the margins, and we all are poorer for it.
