According to my voter pamphlet, here's the full lineup:

    Jesse Young (prefers Republican Party)
Eric G. Arentz Jr. (prefers Independent Party)
Derek Kilmer (D, and my state senator and friend)
    Bill Driscoll (prefers Republican Party)
David (Ike) Eichner (prefers Republican Party)
Stephan Andrew Broadhead (prefers Republican Party)
Doug Cloud (prefers Republican Party, and a perennial loser to Norm Dicks)

Note that the Democrats in the 6th CD got together early around a very strong candidate, while the Republicans are fielding six. We have a top-two primary and I strongly doubt that we will wind up with two Republicans on the ticket. Many folks on the peninsula are pretty blue, but there are a bunch of moderate Republicans and an even greater number who pride themselves on being strongly independent. I don't think this is a seat that a firebrand leftist could win, unfortunately, but a moderate Democrat like Derek, whose professional experience is in helping small businesses create jobs, can do well. His educational achievements are nothing to sneeze at, with a Bachelor's from princeton and a doctorate from Oxford.

This is a race I hope DKos Elections will follow closely. If we can elect Derek, we can probably keep him in that House seat as long as he wants to stay there, as we did with our prior Representative, Norm Dicks.

See my comment above. I removed most of the GOPers because their fundraising was so pitiful. And yeah, we've definitely been following this one, but Derek Kilmer seems like an exceptionally strong candidate.

      •  Some of these GOPers can afford to self-fund (0+ / 0-)

That may be why they can afford to blanket my area with their signs and robocall everybody in the district with a push poll. I am pretty sure they didn't make targeted calls, since they called me, and I'm the local Democratic State Committeewoman.

Please let me know if Daily Kos Elections wants to interview him. Everybody I know expects there to be a flood of outside money coming from GOP pet causes and Super PACs, and I'd love to see that countered via Daily Kos exposure.

        •  Thanks for the offer (0+ / 0-)

More important is that they add me (davidnir@dailykos.com) to their press list. If you're in contact with the campaign, could you kindly ask them to do so?
