    1. Change the popular narrative about political decisions.

    I suppose the point of my diary is that it's more productive to do #2 than to do #1. If you get the decision right, the narrative will take care of itself. And if you get the decision wrong, all the narrative-management in the world will be pissing in the wind.

    The deeper point is that "right" means emotionally right, not just rationally right. The emotion-driven nature of the electorate is a given, a constant, a known. Failure to deal with that is failure, period.

    Run for office. Get elected. Make decisions that are not just rationally right, but that are also emotionally right.
