    And you knew them?

    And understood their role?

Or are you basing this off of the one-sided media that doesn't have a clue.

    Senile Robert Fisk:

It was typical that, in their desperation to fill the vacuum left by yesterday's assassinations, the regime chose a nonentity, Fahd Jassim al-Furayj, to fill the job of Defence Minister – a man who comes from Hama, the centre of every major uprising against Syria's rulers.
nonentity?  He was the Chief-of-Staff. In other words, the guy right below the defense minister. The guy most likely to take his place. The guy who would be the next Defense Minister when Lt Gen Daud retired. In other words, the system quickly reacted and filled the voids and continues. Even during a major a crisis. But this idiot doesn't have a clue about Syria so spins it away as some haphazard decision.

    Fahd Furaij

He held several leadership positions, the latest was Chief of the General Staff on August 10th, 2011.
Fisk is a quoted 'expert' on Syria in the West. And he is an idiot.

Bashar Al Asad is still in charge. Damascus is not about to fall.

The only thing this attack did was piss off the military. If you thought it was bloody before, it will get even worse. So I wouldn't celebrate a whole lot.
