I read the diary a couple times in case I was failing at comprehension.  Where does the diarist suggest that other universities ("Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, USC, LSU, Oregon & Boise State" in your comment) should be punished for the actions of Penn State?

The diarist writes that other institutions "would do well to learn" from this debacle, and that's absolutely true.  We don't know whether any other schools have a problem, but it would benefit these programs -- and, importantly, students -- if all the big football schools took this as an opportunity to audit their procedures and make certain that this hasn't happened elsewhere, and won't.

Surely that's not a contentious stance?

...How Sports Culture Enabled Rape At Penn State

Sports culture didn't enable rape at Penn State; Penn State enabled rape at Penn State.

The Football (sports) culture at Penn State enabled the rape at Penn State.  If Sandusky were just a random professor, and had been seen by janitors and other professors doing the things he was convicted for, do you really think they would have swept it under the rug and covered for him?  No.  They only covered it up because he was a coach and they didn't want to hurt the football program.  And did you read the bits about the athletes who were still allowed to participate in sporting events despite having admitted to sexual assault?  And this isn't a sports culture issue????
