  •  Thought experiment (8+ / 0-)

Ask these people who claim to "love" the Constitution and think the Founding Fathers were living gods that if guns were so important to them, why didn't they write it into the original Constitution, instead of inserting it in afterwards as an AMENDMENT to it?

    And from John Cole:

It occurred to me tonight that we live in a country where the Supreme Court has decided the 1st amendment does not give you the right to yell “fire” in a crowded movie theatre, but the 2nd Amendment gives you an unfettered right to amass enough guns to shoot 71 people in the same theatre.

No wonder Europeans think Americans are fucking stupid.

    •  Actually, you do have the right to yell fire: (1+ / 0-)

If it's part of the production or if there's an actual fire or the suspicion of one, or some other danger requiring attention, as many rape victims are told to yell "fire" to get attention.

Likewise, hypothetically, its also sometimes appropriate to

amass enough guns to shoot 71 people in the same theatre
