  •  How does this extra-governmental (none)
    filibuster accomplish anything?

Is that an ignorant question?  Can someone explain to me how this is fighting anything, in truth?

    •  What are you expecting (4.00)
      it to accomplish?

It is an act of street theatre to call attention to a topic that is being relentlessly distorted by the other side. It is but one act among many, from a group that seeks to make their voices heard. Judging by the "counter demonstrations" by our flat-footed friends from the other side of the aisle, and the lowgrade TV exposure, I'd say they seem to be accomplishing at least some of their goals.

    •  Well, for one thing, this little Frist... (none)
filibuster is fun and it makes for a nice little human-interest type story. In a word, it is entertaining and these days you often have to be a bit entertaining if you want to get the attention of some Americans. Sad, but true. But anyway, once you get their attention, maybe they'll start thinking about the issues behind the filibuster - the Frist version and the ones that are (currently) allowed in the Senate!
