  •  Neeta, thanks so much for this (4+ / 0-)

diary, pix, and mostly for organizing with Steveningen another sfkossacks do.  Couldn't make this one, I'm on severely limited fixed income since being laid off in January...  Still, hope to make one or both of the upcoming ones in August, we'll see how it goes.  Thanks also and a "hi" to Sally Cat, Sidepocket, MB, KimO'Connor and any I've forgotten.  Also to all the other folks who posted all the terrific photos.

    Love to all.

      except for gas and transportation.

      I'm so bummed I didn't know this.

All the catering was complimentary and the tours and everything.

      Wah.........

      :You should have come.......

      I'm so bummed now.

      •  (!!) Please don't be bummed. I was (0+ / 0-)

vaguely aware that there was little cost, the various announcements made that pretty clear.  I have become somewhat of a recluse, I'm afraid... very uncertain future, I may have worked my last, and depending on what Washington decides about federal unemployment extensions, I may have to officially retire in December or soon thereafter, which would be about 3 years ahead of my previous plan and significantly reduce my projected permanent SS income.  That would make my current income fairly permanent for the rest of my life (altho I could then work and augment my SS income, which I cannot now do), and present a new set of options regarding continuing to live in the Bay Area, etc.  So far I haven't had to dip into my very modest savings, but if that changes, I'll need to look very seriously at moving.  As many others have mentioned, nobody is hiring anyone who looks over 50, age discrimination laws be damned...

Not to worry... I am pretty sanguine about it all... But I am watching every penny, including gas expenditures.  I'm already on ATT's "lifeline" and a similar PGE plan for phone and utlilities.  Main goal is not to have to move from my apartment, but rent is now ~ 50% of income.

Thanks for your concern, and I'm staying current with the SFKossacks' presence on dKos.
