Could this have possibly focus grouped well?

It's not going to be part of a new ad buy, it's just going to be cycled in to the Priorities/SEIU current buy just in FL, PA, OH, VA.  I suppose that during the Olympics people would be more likely to listen to an Olympics-themed ad (it looks pretty convincing) than a regular attack ad.  To that effect, I think it works.

    •  I'm OK with this ad (0+ / 0-)

My wife thought OFA's "America the Beautiful" ad was mean, and she's voting for Obama (with mixed feelings, but with enough personal incentive to do so for career reasons).  But an undecided voter I canvassed last weekend in my neighborhood who dislikes both Obama and Romney (but voted for Obama last time) said he loved it.  As we were talking, he brought up the ad on his own and said he thought it hilarious...it's the only time our whole discussion he smiled.

I bring up all that because in comparison, this Olympics ad is less cutting, in my book.  It highlights the attack points in the script itself, compared to an ad where the only audio is Mitt singing with attack points only in visuals.

I don't know if it will piss off undecideds or soft leaners, but somehow I suspect it's more likely to get a laugh from people.

with any political attack that bothers me.  I just want to feel good and idealistic about the Olympics, and if I weren't a shameless Obamabot I can't imagine I would like seeing a political attack from any candidate associated with the games.
