    It's good to be here on a Friday. Two things.

    First, I have more and more the last few years seen signs that "pragmatic racism", racism promoted solely for the purpose of retaining political power, is openly acknowledged by elements on the right. I think I've shared links here to that effect in the past. So I am glad it's being talked about.

    Second, that John McNeil story is horrifying. I have several conservative friends who belong to the NRA and get all sorts of mailings because of that. Although we normally avoid political talk when we hang out, I'm going to subversively rattle their cages a bit on this one, see if I can get them to come to the realization that the NRA isn't really about guns and gun rights, that that is just its cover.
