    I would guess that rankism is also an excuse, rather than a cause, for a range of other behaviors where people seek rationalizations for treating others as less-than-equally-human.

    If we attack these dynamics at the level of rankism, what we get is a cultural value that regards any use of "I'm better than you are" as unacceptable and beyond the pale.   That would intercept and stop all of those dynamics, whether the issue of rank is the cause or the excuse or only tangentially related.

    That change has to be internalized and taught in a manner that it will be internalized.  Otherwise those who are motivated by "the will to power" will only find another way to prey upon others.

    "Minus two votes for the Democrat" equals "plus one vote for the Republican." Arithmetic doesn't care about your feelings.
