        Last but not least, your references to government intervention in the economy cite examples of corporate politics only.  The average American never set foot in a bank until well into the twentieth century.  In the 1890's one eighth of the population controlled seven eights of the nation's wealth.  There are no examples of government intervention in unemployment or provision of bare necessities prior to FDR.   Finally,  at the beginning of the Civil War only 2% of the American people actually owned slaves. Once again, the minority dictated the policies of the majority.
