NBC carried the ceremonies on tape.  They made conscious decisions where and when to carry (or not) parts of the ceremony.  For most of the ceremony segments, they simply paused the "tape," ran commercials, then started the video again with the next segment.  They easily could have run the useless Seacrest interview and then gone to the start of the Abide With Me segment .... I personally was looking forward to Emeli Sandé and didn't realize they had clipped it out until the parade of nations started.  I don't know what is wrong at NBC, but I'll tell you, don't go thinking the BBC is so perfect either.  Try watching Graham Norton's coverage of Eurovision some year!

Graham Norton's commentary is supposed to be ironic/satirical in the tradition of Terry Wogan (another Irishman) who did the coverage for many years.

The BBC provided two commentaries, on BBC One and for the 3D version on BBC HD. Annoyingly you could turn off the commentrary track on the BBC One version but not the alternative.
