    nota bene

The sweaty work is done before they gather on the veranda. The only involvement they know about how the grass got that way is becasue of Jose, who has been with them for 10 years and is just like family.

Really - you give yourself far too much importance if you imagine they think about you at all, or enjoy watching you struggle, or have a single clue about the reality of your life.

I know too many 1%ers. who even so are waaaay down on the scale from the Romney level. I have had conversations with some of them.
One who was astonished that you could wash panty hose, and that some of us don't just throw them out after one wearing. (And did you know you can spend hundreds of dollars on a single pair of panty hose?)
Some were directed to a Dollar Store to buy items for a charity project. Wow! They were amazed and agog that such places existed. Baby layettes and teddy bears can be had for a few dollars each? Astounding! Incredible! And they would never dream of going there for their expected grand-child, but are happily secure that such places mean that no single mother should have to go without anything she needs.

    •  But let the joy of laughter ring out from (0+ / 0-)

the single mother 'welfare queen's' dinner table. . . that stabs them in their empty hole where their heart belongs.  They must fight for more in their pocket so her dinners are more somber.

Let them eat cake, was for the kindly good old days.  These people are after every crumb.  They have everything, the only thing they can get is more.

It's not so much the struggle of the poor they watch and enjoy, but the joy of the poor that they can under no circumstances tolerate.

. . . from Julie, Julia. "Oh, well. Boo-hoo. Now what?"
