    that is, plainly and simply, factually wrong, it distracts from the very real questions of militarization of civilian police. Breaking the posse comitatus law would be a big fucking deal. Having subtly and progressively militarized police is also a big deal but it has to be fought in a different way.

    Your link is 17 pages. Can you be a bit more explicit about what disturbs you? I don't particularly have time to read 17 pages of boring bureaucrat prose right now.

      along with a lengthy list of situations to which the directive does NOT apply, it also says this:

      DSCA is initiated by a request for DoD assistance from civil authorities or qualifying entities or is authorized by the President or Secretary of Defense.
      near as i can tell, it's boilerplate policy should federal forces be called upon.  it is not "hey, let's do this!"
