    As libertarianish ideas go, with a couple of tweaks, I can accept the proposal from the "intellectual scientist" brother.

    1. The guaranteed income should be available to all & large enough to cover food, housing, health insurance & necessities. Also be indexed to cost of living. Something like $15k per person would be good.

    2. The tax system must be progressive starting very low for the poor and rising up from there. For moral arguments why -- http://www.alternet.org/...

    Such a system would be superior to what we have now - I can live with no eitc, soc security, food stamps etc. if we guarantee no poverty.
