    They'll certainly sue, and I'm sure they'll at least recover every cent they put into their preparations to buy it. Of course, the Diocese will then declare itself bankrupt so it doesn't have to pay, and then the buyers can get the property at a much lower price.

      If they are, they won't be able to file again. I have no idea if bankruptcy will or won't protect them here. They own the asset that's involved  here, so my guess is that a court would be wise to order them to sell or transfer the asset to compensate the buyer and cover penalties and costs.

      That would be sweet.
