Thanks so much for all the good (as in informational) links...I am always amazed at the amount of information you find and share.
I hope/wish someone in the Gulf with sea-going capacity, is looking in on the old wellhead and surrounding areas. Someone like Greenpeace. This stuff almost makes me sob in anger. I gather a pod of sperm whales had not been seen for quite some time in the Gulf, hope they are safe somewhere else - you know, as if the oceans are safe. Sigh. When will we, as a species, learn?!
Hope all my sweet GW's are enjoying some more seasonable summer weather, the kind that makes eating fresh watermelons and spitting seeds a real joy on a summer evening.  ;)

being done in the Gulf I doubt if we will ever know what the fate has been of the sperm whales.

I doubt if Greenpeace has the means to check the wellhead. It would have to be someone with equipment that is capable of working and surviving the intense deep sea pressure and cold. That would be a very short list outside the oil industry.

Look around up top in the area of the wellhead.  I didn't write that very well.
You are correct, there is precious little good science going on in the GOM...I think if there was, many of the wells would be forever shut down.
Not politically possible, nor, really, is it possible given the choke-hold fossil fuels have on our daily lives.
        Sigh.
Thanks again for this diary, your hard work is so wonderful and so appreciated!  xo
