  •  Bought a house to go to Harvard! Just like (15+ / 0-)

every ordinary American college kid does.

I washed dishes, delivered pizzas, dug post holes and various other odd jobs I could find with zero help from my poor parents (and thank god for Pell grants, BEOG grants and the LEOP program).   I put myself through college but never bought a house. I guess I was stupid.

Oh, I did borrow $50 bucks on time from my dad because my 20 year old car's battery was dead and frozen on a -10 degree day.  Yeah, Mitt's just like me.  Borrowed a couple bucks from the old man. At super favorable rates to make the mortgage payments lower than rent.

Hell, if my old man had that kind of money, he'd have bought me a house outright, not made me beg to borrow it.  But he was broke, just like me.

    •  It sounds like they didn't pay mortgage or rent (0+ / 0-)

      From Ann's statement:

so we not only stayed for free, we made money.
i would say that loan from daddy was for entire amount of the house and they didn't have to pay it back until they sold the house.

She apparently attributes 'living for free'  to Mitt's genius, rather than the money they were basically gifted.
