    from the calls to address this issue are SD politicians, as far as I can tell.

    Unfortunately my state has a long history of ignoring Federal Acts like the ICWA and even the Voting Rights Act.  South Dakotans don't like the adverse publicity but without political leadership, national media attention, legislative hearings and legal actions are necessary and ultimately effective.  Petition signed.  Keep us updated.  And welcome.

      ...how about Byran Dorgan.  He always seemed on the 'good' side of things.   Maybe he can be more help out of office.

        Sen Dorgan was an outstanding voice for Native American issues.  But he was from the other (North) Dakota.  South Dakota politicians, local and national, seem to be silent on this issue affecting their state, and once again, their state's image.

        The issue also affects other states and that is why the national focus is appropriate.  But the fact that stories originating in SD generate no reaction from SD lawmakers is perplexing.
