  •  Wow, brings back so many memories of the day. (3+ / 0-)

Never did any dealing or got caught buying, but I do remember the music, the drugs and the easy camaraderie of the era. And we did it all without cell phones.

Late one night I got off the Illinois Central train from Chicago in Charleston, Illinois where my younger brother was hanging out with friends. On the platform was my older brother, waiting for the train to return him to Chicago. We had both heard that the kid brother was doing belladonna because "it was just so close to dying," and headed down, independently, to figure out what the hell was going on with him. No cell phones, Steve and I didn't discuss our plans - I don't think either one of us had a telephone.  But there we were on a train platform late one summer night.

Spent a great weekend on the campus of Eastern Illinois University stoned and listening to Hey Jude. Over and over again.  No idea why.

    Yeah, those were the days.

serendipity or coincidences just seem too strange to make heads or tails of. It's enough to make you wonder what all might be going on that we simply do not yet understand - things like telepathy or incidences of profound intuition. I have a sense that there is are many things like that going on that will one day be perfectly understood but just aren't yet.

      •  There must have been some kind of a grapevine (3+ / 0-)

in those days. although even that would not explain arriving on the same platform miles away from our hometown.  Steve and I were not very close in those days. I had a job.

Until they are understood, we may as well call them magic. After all, that is still how I refer to electricity. And I kind of know how that works.

        Looking forward to more chapters!

getting a ride with a roomie in our hippy crash pad 4000 miles  away,...walks in....  'Hey, I know you!' totally random uh huh.

or stopping at a view spot in northern BC and ex wife gets out of another car.....

or 25 years later far far away same ex wife pushes past me in hotel door excoriating/browbeating current husband at the same time...'you poor bastard' was my second thought...first was 'holy  crap that's...ohh geez......'
