Not sure where your comment came from, but mine came from being 60-something and remembering Walter Cronkite's obvious delight and enthusiasm in his reporting of American space exploits from Cape Kennedy.

My age means this non-science ability person, but one with an interest in science and an open mind, was influenced by the likes of Sputnik moving as a bright light across the background of the Milky Way.  I can literally return to that picture in my mind.  My husband was so influenced by it, that it inspired his science & math ability to become a physicist.

It had absolutely NOTHING to do with putting down the  competence, racial background or enthusiasm of the commentators last night.

Rather it had to do with remembering how pleased and excited Mr Cronkite would be about this achievement.

If your seemingly thoughtless reply was meant the way it landed on my glow from last night, you owe me an apology and/or a clarification.

    •  I don't see where in my comment you read (0+ / 0-)

that I thought you were putting down the commentators! I was talking about the spirit of the great Walter - no dumbing down - bringing the real science to the public. He can't be with us, but the people who were did a fine job in his stead.
