    To demonstrate what I find is a disconnect on this site between policy and people - we tend to talk in the abstract about far-away places with bad politics, and don't realize that people have to live there - that people are losing health care, losing educational opportunity, losing work, because of these policies -

    and I almost feel like west and east coasters have a "sucks to be you" attitude.  Pisses me off.

      As someone who was born in Tennessee and lives in Wisconsin now, I find the dismissive attitude towards people living in purple and red states rather aggravating. We can't just evacuate everyone to California and New York- many inland moderates, liberals, and progressives have attachments to their home states that have nothing to do with politics.

          My dad, for example, is in a rather small scientific field where there aren't all that many positions. He's got a fairly secure position in TN, and doesn't want to look for jobs ever again, especially not in this economy.
