'Playing out the clock' means stalling, as in the 4 corner defense in basketball.  You don;t score, you just keep the other guy from scoring.

This is offense is a tax cheat.  That is why he is hiding his returns.  Reid is calling him on it. (Whether he paid any or not is irrelevant, he did not pay his fair share and I'd bet not even his legal share).  And it is hurting Mr. 1% with the voters.

Heck, its not even counter-punching.  This is a plain old series of jabs and upper cuts winning rounds.

    •  true, but (5+ / 0-)

in football, if you hand the ball off every down, and have a good running game, you slowly advance the ball, keep your opponents offense off the field, wear down their defense and chew up the clock.

That is also called 'playing out the clock'.  Clock keeps ticking, and their offense can only watch from the sidelines.

      •  U only 'play it out' if you keep making 1st downs, (0+ / 0-)

make enough and you score.  IOW, its just another stupid sport analogy that means nothing outside its unique context.

By using this analogy, you are unintentionally trivializing the importance both of this issue and this election.

Ds are not 'playing out' anything.  They are taking it to Mr. 1% and the Thugs on behalf of every American's voter right to know who Mr. 1% sold out to in the past who he will do so to in the future, only at the cost of the country should he win.

        Clear?

    •  The Four Corners was an "offense," not a defense. (1+ / 0-)

Barack Obama: Gives people who tortured other people to death a pass, prosecutes whistleblowers. Change we can believe in!
