when hit with a devastating shot from Obama, comes back the next day with a lame-assed attempt to do the same thing back to him?

It's like they are in a playground battle for control of the jungle gym.  And as I have said several times, the classic case of this is the ploy of driving the Romney bus around the block at Obama appearances and honking the horn.

    Gravitas?

Everyone enjoys a little childishness every now and then...witness the popularity of Facebook.  But what makes Facebook, Twitter and the rest relevant is that everyone on that playground is playing the game for fun and playing it well.

To extend the playground metaphor...no one likes it when the school bully or the tattletale or the crybaby tries to join a game.  No one trusts them and they usually don't really even know how to play any game.

It's just awkward.  You wish their mommies would call them to come home.
